Marine Schoettel (b. 1990) is a PhD student at Ecole Pratique des Hautes Études. A graduate of Ecole du Louvre (2014), she was trained as an art historian, and she subsequently specialised in Southeast Asian Studies and Philology at Ecole Pratique des Hautes Etudes (2015-2018).
She is currently engaged in doctoral research under the supervision of Arlo Griffiths. Her project is entitled ‘Investigations into the religious history of Majapahit-period Java’. Her broader research interests range from sculptural narrative traditions in Southeast Asia, with a focus on Java in the Majapahit Period (1293-1500 ce), to the history of religions across South and Southeast Asia in a trans-regional perspective.
In the ERC DHARMA project, she is a member of task-force C. She will contribute editions and translations of Old Javanese inscriptions and śāsana lawcodes.
