OLLETT Andrew

Andrew Ollett, Neubauer Family Assistant Professor at the University of Chicago, works on the literary and intellectual traditions of South Asia. He is the author of Language of the Snakes: Prakrit, Sanskrit, and the Language Order of Premodern India (2017). His current projects include an edition and translation of the Prakrit romance Lilavai (to appear in the Murty Classical Library of India), a book on the beginnings of manuscript literacy in South Asia, a book on context-dependency in South Asian philosophies of language and, with Sarah Pierce Taylor, an edition and translation of The Way of the Poet-King, a ninth-century manual of poetics in Kannada.

Andrew received his PhD from Columbia University and was a Junior Fellow at the Harvard Society of Fellows.
